Curtis was born
in Greensboro, Alabama, studied accounting at the Brooklyn Adult Vocational School, and graduated from Ambassador College, Pasadena in 1972.
Curtis has served as a GCI minister in Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Maryland; Norfolk, Virginia;
Los Angeles and Pasadena, California. Curtis is a member of the
GCI board of directors. He also serves on the board of directors
of African Enterprise: A Global Partnership Reaching Africa for
Christ.
In 1996,
Curtis was appointed director of GCI's Office of Reconciliation
Ministries (ORM). He has
traveled to cities throughout the United States, South Africa,
England and Northern Ireland helping to organize and conduct
racial reconciliation workshops. He has received training at
the Center for the Healing of Racism in Houston, Texas, and is
a member of the center. He is also a member of the International
Reconciliation Coalition and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Curtis also works
as a GCI MinDev ministry developer, helping GCI ministers and congregations
grow in disciplemaking ministry that includes reaching the
lost for Christ by learning how to develop mature believers
who are equipped to serve and reach the unchurched. He also
emphasizes the importance of identifying and mentoring
young emerging leaders.
Curtis is married to
Jannice. They have two
married children, Angela Clark, a certified public accountant, and
Brad, a police officer in the city of Pasadena.
