MALAWI YOUTH RETREAT

By Silvester Nkosi, Youth Pastor for Malawi

The Regional Youth Retreat in Malawi was a dream in reality. It was held from 18th to 21st April 2003 .

The venue was Blantyre City at the Worldwide Church Campus, facing the panoramic views of the townships of Blantyre. The retreat programme was packed with lessons of biblical principles, praise and worship, a city tour, fellowship and many other items of youth interest .There were 65 in attendance, of whom 47 were from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi, as well as pastors, speakers and support staff. Kalengule Kaoma, the Regional Pastor also attended.

.The theme was Youth Empowerment for Christ with the objective of leading youth to Jesus Christ through the word of God as a shepherd leads the sheep (Psalm 23:1-6). Also to prepare the youth for the work of service with knowledge and skills for the preaching of the gospel  (Ephesians 4:12-13) Thirdly, to help youth discover their potential talents and gifts that God has imparted to them.

Subjects covered by the speakers were leadership qualities, career development, Christian dating, AIDS awareness, youth empowerment, youth gospel evangelism, Christian and contemporary music, and personality development.

We sincerely thank parents and brethren for the prayers and the support given to facilitate the youth coming together in the name of Jesus Christ. The sacrifice you have made has been truly worthwhile.

The young people in attendance were very zealous for the word of God. The Pastors and staff made a great contributions to the success of the retreat. The seed has been sown, and we trust our Lord to water it for growth and bearing of fruits.

The hearts of these young people were pierced by the word of God and they were touched by the Holy Spirit.
