THE EMMAUS EXPERIENCE
Inside Team and Pilgrims SECE Walk#4, Trinidad The Emmaus Walk is a 72-hour Chrisitan pilgrimage through which participants are taught about the unending bounds of God's love through a series of "Grace Talks". The Emmaus movement is coordinated by The Upper Room. Under the mentorship of the Oceanside Emmaus Community, the Worldwide Church of God congregations coordinate three Emmaus Communities in the Caribbean: Nature Isle Emmaus in Dominica and South Eastern Caribbean Emmaus in Barbados and Trinidad. The communities consist of active Reunion Groups and hold regular Gatherings. Emmaus Walks are hosted by the South Eastern Caribbean Emmaus communities in Trinidad and Barbados at least once a year. "Chrysalis" is the name chosen for the youth and young adult version of The Walk to Emmaus, its parent movement, because it symbolises the spiritual growth that is essential between adolescence and adulthood. That growth is as crucial for youth as the cocoon is for the caterpillar. It is that precious time of nurturing a person's faith for discipleship. Chrysalis "Flights" (teens 14-19 years) and "Journeys" (for young adults, ages 19-24 years) are three-day events. This three-day spiritual renewal time provides an opportunity for them to learn more about faith, to experience christian love and support, and to make new faith commitments. The point is to inspire, challenge and equip them for a closer friendship with Christ and for Christian action at home, school and community. Chrysalis lifts up a way for them to enjoy Christ's friendship and love and to be Christ"s friend and partner in the world. The three days focus on God"s grace, their experience with Christ as friend, what it means to be the body of Christ, and giving love to a needy world. EMMAUS COMMUNITIES
