Married For Life
Dominica marked another Carnival with a high focus on youth. Calypso King, Carnival Queen and an unfortunate death were all youth highlights. This is not to say that the wider society was not fully involved, yes they were, but one group got especially involved.
This is when, on Saturday February 25th, the Dominica church got together for family fellowship. All husbands and wives met for 'marriage togetherness' in a night to be remembered. It was plenty of fun, good food and joyful fellowship. Started at 8 pm, we went into 1 am just revisiting the benefits and values of family life as married couples, which needs rebuilding in our society.
All other family members gathered on their own for fun and fellowship.
Part of our entertainment was following the Calypso King Finals. We intend repeating this kind of fellowship at regular intervals, three to four periods per year to help us more fully embrace, build upon and share the rich values of 'being married' which does not get enough attention nowadays.
