Hi Confused Camper! Thank you for informing us about what you feel sa SEP in Camiguin. We appreciate your courage and honesty. Guess you've shown that we are a family and that we should be open to one another about our feelings. Thank you.:) Well, about the "weren't acting like Christians", we have to think that one of the missions of our church is REACHING OUT to others-- who haven't really known Jesus Christ. We are to mold them through the Holy Spirit to become true Christians. We don't know who are their influencers. Guess we should take the camp as a total blessing nalang. like a paper which has two sides to it. :) blessing-- for we have gained many friends, some who've grown in the church and others whom we are trying to reach out; and we have seen some of them accepted Christ as their Personal Savior.:) -adelle

Hello confused camper!! I am saddened to read that you felt that way about the previous camp. But you must remember that first and foremost Christians are sinners too. We make up the body of Christ, but through faith in him and by the Lord's grace we are forgiven for our transgressions and are molded to become like him. Indeed it was a horrible thing that those we know have acted "un-Christianly" towards others, but it is now in the Lord's hands to hold judgment on them, not ours. Rather than emphasizing on the negative aspects of the camp, why not accentuate the positive outputs) instead? Didn't everyone in the camp enjoy? Weren't there some who got baptized? Wasn't it memorable for those who have never been to Camiguin? Haven't you made more friends? Finally, what have you learned from all the activities? Because trust me, if you scrutinize every detail about the camp, it will only boil down to this: it isn't perfect! Not even you! There is not a perfect camp in the world, no perfect counselor, no perfect camper! No matter how much you look for one, you won't find it in a gazillion years.

I would just like to make a comment though about the "stuff that really matters" (and this just my opinion really hehe). Isn't following Christ in a fast-paced, selfish world more important than "sex, vices, [and] relationship"? If we don't know how to be good ambassadors of the Lord 'out there', then we're really in big trouble! Temptation would be within arms reach and we'll be driven into the negativities of these things you mentioned. Yes, temptation around us is strong. But the Lord is stronger and he will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear, and when we are tempted, he will provide a way out (1 Cor. 10:13). That is the 'prize' of knowing the Lord's will and following Christ all our days: we will be guarded, armored, shielded and strengthened from all these by Him from whom we came. :D

But I thank you, Confused Camper, for your bravery to speak out your mind. I wish you have written these down in the evaluation we handed out last camp so that we can improve future camps, as well as ourselves. I hope to see you and meet you next time. For now, remain in the Lord and delight in him. God bless! --- veejay

thanks for the comment 'confused camper'. be patient with the staff my dear, they are also in God's grinding board, no one is perfect right??Ü however, even if we scold or talk to some of the campers, we can't really control them all of the time. they have mind of its own, they know how to decide. we can only teach them what is right and wrong, not control or choke them. its up to them to listen by heart or listen by ear.Ü

comment lang on the summer camp in camiguin...i noticed that some campers and even counselours weren't acting like Christians. Hindi it was soppose to show that Christians dont care for outside appearance? How come I heard some counselours talk about a certain camper like she wasnt human? They even tolerated other campers from calling her names like Jopay that is meant to ridecule...i'm really confused...and the topics...i can't, and i guess most of the others too, can't relate to them. the camp didnt discuss stuff that really matters like sex, vices, relationship...there's nothing wrong about discussing the biblical stuff but its different when ur in the camp and when your not! temptations are abound in the outside, we all know that..i guess next time the camp will be much better...confused camper

Comment: There were 73 campers and 47 of them attended camp for the first time. Many of them are non-church members, do not attend church or are attending occasionally. The reason why we have a camp is to reach out to these youths (including counselors and staff) so that they will invite Jesus into their lives and become Christians. I am not surprised if some "weren't acting like Christians" in these camps. We cannot change in four days what character they have developed for many, many years. But I'm sure God will work in each one of them in His own good time. Let us give them a chance to grow. It takes time (years) to come to maturity.

Have you invited Jesus into your life? If so, then congratulations and thank God that He is patient too with your mistakes every now and then.

By the way, 14 of these teenagers decided to invite Jesus into their lives and got baptized. That's something worth celebrating! To me, that is really the "stuff that really matters" -- that the youths think it's important to accept Jesus into their lives. Sex and vices will become of less importance and will eventually become no longer a problem if we have a deep relationship with Jesus.
