Curtis
May was born in Greensboro, Alabama, and graduated from Sunshine High School as class
valedictorian in 1963. The following year, while living in Brooklyn, New York, he became a
member of the Worldwide Church of God.
After studying accounting at the Brooklyn Adult Vocational School and working in the U.S. Postal Service, he attended Ambassador College in Pasadena from 1971 to 1972 and in 1979.
Curtis has served in Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Maryland; Norfolk, Virginia; and Pasadena, where he is senior pastor of the headquarters congregation and district superintendent of the Pasadena district. He is also a member of the executive committee of the WCG board of directors.
Curtis' wife, Jannice, is founder and president of Connecting and Bonding, Inc., an organization that serves ministers' wives. The Mays have been married for 32 years and have two children, Angela, who is a certified public accountant, and Brad, a police officer in Pasadena.
Curtis taught Bible classes at Imperial High School in the 1980s and 1990s and served as director of the church's Summer Educational Program in Pasadena from 1992 to 1995.
In 1996 he was appointed director of the Office of Reconciliation Ministries. Since then he has traveled throughout the United States helping to organize and conduct racial reconciliation workshops along with the Center for the Healing of Racism in Houston, Texas, where he has received training. He is also a member of the International Reconciliation Coalition.
