Come, Celebrate
Christ festivals

By Charles Albrecht

The WCG invites members to "Come, Celebrate Christ" at one of its denominationally sponsored festival sites in 2002.

As in past years, we have tried to spread the sites across the country to make travel as convenient as possible.

Summer festival

Summer Festival 2002 once again joins the other denominationally sponsored fall festival sites and will take place in Atlanta, Georgia.

The summer festival is scheduled at a time when many children can join in the celebration without missing school. The location and time will vary in coming years to benefit people in other parts of the country.

The Atlanta festival will take place July 25 to 28. Coordinator Al Barr said it will be packed with praise, worship, preaching and fellowship; four days of spiritual renewal, restoration and rejoicing. The focus will be "Living in His Presence."

The festival will take place at Clayton County Performing Arts Center in Jonesboro, Georgia, 10 miles south of Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport.

Numerous motels are available in the immediate area, as are multiple restaurants of every price range.

Out of the many motels available, the church has contacted five motels (consisting of a total of 250 rooms) to arrange group discounts for church members. Prices range from $50 to $79. Information concerning these five motels will be posted under the festival section of the WCG website www.wcg.org These rates are good until May 25.

The WCG website also contains more details about registration for the summer festival.

Cruises and tours

The church will also sponsor Alaska and Caribbean festival cruises and a bus tour of the Grand Canyon and national parks in the Southwest. Registration and tour information for these latter three events are available by calling Travel Gallery at 1-800-858-6999.

As in past years with the festival, the focus of this year’s conference will be a Celebration of Christ in worship and in praise. In addition to group celebrations, plans are for lectures, workshops and activities for the whole family, all conducted while maintaining times for fellowship.

Church Administration will mail a letter to all member households that will include further information and a schedule of fees for festival registration. Registration and additional details are also available at www.wcg.org/festival

As different types of celebrations are planned this year, please note that the dates fluctuate. The dates and locations for the festival sites are in the table below.

We understand that because of work or other obligations, members may choose not to attend any of the 2002 festival sites. All members are also invited to attend one of our district weekend conferences sponsored by Church Administration.
