As a member of the Worldwide Church of God for 40 years and an Ambassador Television engineer for 23 years, he was a beautiful blend of wisdom, humility, strength and gentleness and one who truly had a consistent walk with God.

Al Allworth

Tony Murphy, a co-worker with Al at Ambassador Television, said: "Al Allworth was an incredible person. Many people know a little bit about a few things, but Al knew a lot about many things. Although his expertise was in electronics and fine quality machining, you found out quickly he was also a walking encyclopedia when it came to anything electric such as refrigeration, logging and aluminum manufacturing. He also loved rock polishing, hiking, sailing and flying. He loved life."

Susan King, an elder’s wife from Bend, Oregon, shared how a few years ago, Al was a camp counselor for a group of young boys. Most of the other counselors were in their late teens or early 20s, but here was Al, in his late 60s. The boys in Al’s group asked, "Why do we have such an old counselor?" Funny thing, as the days went by, the boys realized they had the coolest counselor in the world. He taught them how to think things through and do things no one else could. That was Al.

But probably more than anything, Al earnestly desired to do God’s will. You could say he was wired for eternity. In the last few years at his lovely home in Gold Beach, Oregon, he and his wife, Marie, would conduct Bible studies for people in the area—helping hurting people who were seeking for answers in life.

Marie said, "Al’s heart was always on nurturing and teaching people God’s way." Even after Al discovered he had pancreatic cancer in December, he prayed that God would give him more years so he could disciple others.

God gave Al only four months. On March 29, his Master summoned him. In deep reflection, Marie said, "Knowing Al, it seems almost apropos that God summon him during this resurrection season."

For all of those who had the good fortune of Al’s friendship, we are far more blessed for it.

His wonderful legacy now continues through his wife of 50 years, Marie, their two daughters, Lynn and Cheryl, sons Barry and Bruce and 12 grandchildren.

Lynn summarized Al’s life with these words: "When it comes to faithful servants of God, I put my dad on the list right beside Moses, Noah, Enoch and Abraham, and I can hear the words ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant’ being proclaimed to my dad. He’s where he desired most to be—with his Master."
