Crosswalk Camp
in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY, OklahomaOn May 23, 180 teens, young adults and parents gathered at Crosswalk Camp in Oklahoma City for three days of worshiping God, forming deeper relationships with each other, committing their lives to serving the Lord and reaching out to the world in ministry.
Crosswalk was again an opportunity for those who attended to join in worship and to explore opportunities to bring the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ to the world.
We had two camps running simultaneously, our junior camp (ages 8 to 11) and a senior camp (ages 12 to 25). Our young people are hungry for opportunities to worship God, to rise to the challenges of living a godly life in todays culture and to minister to others.
Campers and staff came from nine states, and all were focused on growing in their commitment to God and to serving him.
Praise and worship was led by Unified, the youth praise team from Oklahoma City. Pastor Tim Brassell of Norfolk, Virginia, as well as a number of young adults, led breakout sessions, and the Liquefied Drama Team helped focus on the needs of the persecuted church abroad.
Sundays worship service concluded with a message from Dan Rogers, superintendent of U.S. ministers, who reminded us all that no matter what the storms in life may bring, when we are anchored in Jesus we need not fear. Randy Heidrich.
Junior camp
Twenty-nine children (ages 8 to 11) took part in Junior Crosswalk. Stuart Powell, pastor of the Ponca City, Oklahoma, church, was director.
The theme was being a living sacrifice, and all activities focused on how others could be served. The children wrote notes of encouragement to the teen campers and prayed for them by name. Each night, as the teens were in chapel, they hung their notes on the door to each dorm. It was inspiring to see the support the young Christians had for the teens and to hear the cheers and see the enthusiasm the teens had for the young Christians. Bill Vice.
