July 17 marked the beginning of a new era for the European churches with the commissioning of a European denominational director, writes John D. Stettaford. At the culmination of a two-day conference a commissioning ceremony took place to appoint Donat J. Picard for a three-year term. Page 7.

Pastor General Joseph Tkach arrived in St. Albans, England, July 16, to preside over the launch of the European Council of National Directors, writes Randal Dick. This was the culmination of an 18-month process. Page 8.

 

British Editor

John Halford stepped down as European regional director with the appointment of Donat Picard as denominational director. Mr. Halford continues as editor of the British magazine and coordinator of the church’s international magazines. Mr. Halford and his wife, Pat, will move to Versailles, Indiana, to be closer to their children. Page 10.

 

SEP

Four reporters write about experiences at SEP camps in Silver Meadows, north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; North Carolina; Gwinwood, near Lacey, Washington; and Camp Cotubic, near Bellfontaine, Ohio. The camps focused on Jesus Christ with lots of fun and learning. Many campers either accepted Christ as Savior and were baptized or recommitted their lives to him. Pages 14 to 17.
