AZLE, TexasReconciliation came to Azle, when the Power Team arrived and gave their powerful testimonies about Jesus Christ before a packed high school auditorium for five nights from Wednesday through Sunday in September.
Four thousand attended, and 900 made or renewed their commitment to Christ.
Power Team members perform feats of strength to get the attention of young people so they can introduce them to the real strength in their livesJesus Christ.
This began when the ministerial alliance made a commitment to pursue reconciliation in the city. The city had a problem with racism, and the pastors were not content for this situation to remain that way. We began to pray on a regular basis about what Jesus would want us to do.
At first, we thought we could bring in a qualified speaker to present the evils of racism and the solutions to those evils. Even though we were prepared to have that time of collective introspection and repentance, the Holy Spirit helped us realize that we needed more pastors on board. Then the door opened for us to invite the Power Team to do their ministry.
The pastors were invited to jointly sponsor the Power Team to come and witness Jesus to the youths. A sense of excitement was generated, which led to a Covenant of Peace being signed by 18 of the citys pastors. When the time arrived for the Power Team to testify about the real power in their lives, the stage was set for the walls that divide to be broken down.
The Power Team said how wonderful it was to be invited by the Azle Ministerial Alliance. They had been invited by one big church in a city, but never by the churches of the city. The reconciliation that began with the coming of the Power Team continues today as the pastors of the city come together to encourage unity in the Body of Christ and the respect that should be given to all people, no matter what their race, gender, age or social position. Praise be to Jesus for the good work he has begun.
