Regional Conferences

In August, the South Central district hosted its regional conference in Dallas, Texas, and the North Central and Great Lakes districts conducted their conference in Chicago, Illinois. These were equipping conferences, and the ministers and members in attendance received helpful tools to equip them for their work as ministers of the precious gospel of Jesus Christ. Page 5.

Pastor General

Satan tempted Jesus in the desert, and Jesus responded by quoting scripture. However, as you have probably noticed, just quoting scripture does not make temptation go away, and it does not guarantee that we will resist it, writes Pastor General Joseph Tkach. After all, even Satan can quote scripture. Page 6.

Window on the World

About a year ago someone shared a letter that they had written to their adult children, writes Randal Dick. In addition to having a good message, the letter reminds us that mission is about overcoming obstacles that prevent people from coming to Christ. Our mission must include the “lost generation” of the WCG. Page 10.

Youth Ministry

In this youth ministry equipping and training column we are exploring ways youth ministry workers and leaders may actively participate in Jesus’ disciplemaking ministry patterns—partnering with the Holy Spirit to win the lost, build believers, equip workers and multiply and send shepherd-leaders, writes Jeb Egbert. SEP Colorado

SEP Colorado’s inaugural camp is now in the books, and what a wonderful and successful camp it was, write Cliff Snyder and Sarah Miles. On July 19, about 50 campers and staff came together at a church camp named Camp Colorado about 40 miles southwest of Denver in the foothills of Pike National Forest. Page 14.

SEP Connecticut

Ninety-six campers and 56 volunteer staff members experienced the grace of God during SEP Connecticut, Aug. 17 to 23, writes Steve Botha. We faced the challenge with the power blackout, which took place before the start of camp. Page 16.

Financial Report

Once again, we have closed a month with member donation income right at our forecasts, writes controller Ron Kelly. August contributions totaled $1.44 million. Page 24.

Bible Study

Paul declares that the gospel of salvation announces a righteousness from God, a righteousness that “is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe,” writes Michael Morrison. Page 25.

Women's Ministry

The sixth annual Connecting and Bonding conference took place again this year at the Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles, Aug. 29 to 31, writes Marjorie Friddle. This conference is designed especially for elders’ wives. Page 28.
