Manhattan Community Church celebrates graduation
NEW YORK, New York—The Manhattan Community Church youth ministry was host for an end of the school year youth day service June 28. The youths set a graduation ceremony atmosphere as they entered the hall in caps and gowns.
Praise and worship was led by TaShauna Dawkins and Arnold Coleman, youth pastor. Clive Welsh, youth leader, opened in prayer.
Two graduating high school seniors, Cesar Rosales and Elizabeth Baez, shared lessons they have learned during their years involved with youth ministry.
Crist Rosales gave an intercessory prayer. Special music was performed by preteen Victor Guzman Jr. as he played Fleur De Lis. Preteen Stephanie Jones performed a violin solo.
After a dramatic reading given by Alma V. La Marr, youth leader, Stephanie Jones read “Courage,” an original poetic piece written by her brother Reggie. Julian Dawkins read Joshua 24:15, the theme scripture.
Mr. Coleman then delivered a sermon titled “Covenant of Courage.” The service ended with the giving of certificates to all the youths as well as a presentation of gifts given to the two graduating seniors. Senior Pastor Dan Bierer prayed over all the youths and asked a special blessing on Cesar Rosales as he has enlisted in the United States Navy and was to leave for basic training at the end of September. Elizabeth Baez will attend John Jay College to study law.
Brian Rosales, brother of Crist and Cesar Rosales, gave the closing prayer. Arnold Coleman and Alma V. La Marr.
