Don Hall: 1932-2003
A man of wry humor,
silly jokes and quiet wisdom
HEMET,
California—Donald R. Hall, 70, died July 18 of a heart attack due to diabetes.
He was born in Decatur County, Iowa, and lived there until he joined the Navy in
1952. Don flew in a weather squadron during the Korean War, but the only combat
he faced was tracking hurricanes.
In 1955 he married May Price. They finished out his tour of duty in Pensacola, Florida, where their first daughter, Tammy, was born. They moved back to Iowa to farm, where their second daughter, Teresa, was born. For health reasons, the family moved off the farm to Salt Lake City, Utah, then to Denver, Colorado, in search of a job, where they became part of the Worldwide Church of God in 1972.
They moved to Pasadena in 1987. He was ordained an elder in 1989. Don worked for the church in Purchasing for two years and Festival for eight years and retired in 1997.
He is survived by May, his wife of 48 years; two daughters, Tammy Tkach and Teresa Elkholy; two sons-in-law, Joe and Sam; four grandchildren, Joseph III, Stephanie, Alex and Dean; a brother, Jon; and a sister, Bonnie, both from Iowa.
Don loved his family, his flowers and garden, his motorcycle, flying and life. He left the party while he was still having fun. His wry humor, silly jokes and quiet wisdom will be sorely missed.
