Greg Archer competes in

world freestyle wrestling championship

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana—Greg Archer, a member of the Terre Haute church, competed in the Veterans World Freestyle Wrestling championships in Budapest, Hungary, in August.

Mr. Archer overcame several training injuries, the first just seven weeks before competition and the last, a torn medial lateral ligament to his knee, just two days before his first match. After an urgent phone call home, the Terre Haute church, together with his teammates in Hungary, prayed for healing so that he might compete.

In answer to everyone’s prayers, he overcame his injuries and finished fifth in his age and weight class. The U.S. team finished third out of 25 other competing nations.

Greg gave all the credit to God in an article in the Terre Haute Tribune-Star. “My being able to compete was nothing short of a miracle,” said Mr. Archer. “When the (knee) injury occurred, I knew the only way I would be able to compete was if God intervened.” After only two days of therapy, “my knee made amazing progress.”

Mr. Archer is the assistant wrestling coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and wrestled as a student at Indiana State University.
