PASADENA—Church Administration announces the formation of Generations ministry.

Known as Generations for short, it is a WCG ministry in the United States that facilitates the ministry of people of all generations in reaching out with the life-changing love of Jesus to make disciples of children, teens and young adults. This ministry replaces and expands what had previously been known as WCG-USA Youth Ministry.
This mission of Generations ministry is expressed in the Generations logo, where the heart represents love for God and for people, and the cross represents commitment to making disciples.
“Let the little children come to me,” Jesus said, “and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).
Young people have a particular openness to Jesus and his love. They are a vital part of the harvest field into which Jesus has sent his disciples (Matthew 9:38).
Generations focuses on the biblical values of family and community, where young people are served by parents, grandparents, other guardians, ministry leaders and ministry workers of all ages.
Generations resources
Generations operates at the national and district levels in the United States to augment related ministries at the local level.
It provides three primary types of resources: leaders, programs and communication tools.
* Generations leaders operate at the national and district levels and are appointed and supervised by Church Administration. Most of these leaders serve as volunteers; a gift of love for which the church is deeply grateful. Jeb Egbert and Ted Johnston serve as co-directors of the Generations national development team. Generations directors within each district will be announced at a later date.
* Generations programs are of several types and are organized by Generations leaders at various levels. Generations leaders are empowered to add, subtract and modify programs as necessary to follow where the Spirit leads in ministering effectively within a rapidly changing world.
Current Generations programs include Spiritual Enrichment Pro-gram (SEP) camps, Discovery Week-ends (evangelistic worship retreats), Generations Strategy and Generations Foundations workshops, Generations training segments at regional conferences, and the Ministry Development Program (MDP), which includes summer training intensive sessions at select SEP camps and a Mentor Equipping Workshop being conducted this year in multiple U.S. locations.
* Generations communication tools take advantage of available and inexpensive technologies to advance Generations at all levels. Those tools currently include web sites, ezines (e-mail newsletters) and articles in church publications including WCG Today, Christian Odyssey and Good Shepherding.
