Catherwood retires
FLOWER MOUND, Texas— Carn Catherwood, 65, most recently South Central district superintendent, retired June 17 after nearly 45 years of service to the WCG.
Catherwood was born in 1940 in Birtle, Manitoba, Canada. He entered Ambassador College in 1957 and graduated from the Bricket Wood, England, campus in 1961 and was ordained into the ministry in 1962. He married Joyce Sefcak in 1963.
The Catherwoods planted new churches in Indianapolis, Indiana; Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio; Lexington, Kentucky; Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; Paris, France; Brussels, Belgium; and Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Catherwood also served congregations in Birmingham, England; Temple City, California; Birmingham and Opp, Alabama; Meridian, Mississippi; and Glendora, Riverside and Banning, California.
Catherwood also served as district superintendent over Eastern Canada (Quebec and Maritimes), regional director of French-speaking areas (including parts of Africa, Europe and the West Indies) as well as regional director of Italian-speaking areas and Malta. Between 1979 and 1990 he was a part-time instructor at Ambassador. He began serving as a U.S. district superintendent in 1997.
The Catherwoods have three daughters and sons-in-law: Suzy Molnar and her husband, Jeff, Sharie Kay Damore and her husband, Dominic, and Laura Beth Pink and her husband, Ben. They have eight grandchildren.
Catherwood will continue to serve the church as a member of the council of elders. Carn and Joyce live in Dallas.
