Church announces two new Feast sites

The church announced Rockville, Maryland, and Galveston, Texas, as Feast sites for the 1996 Feast of Tabernacles, A Celebration of Salvation.

Washington, D.C., area

The Washington, D.C., suburb of Rockville, Maryland, features Victorian architecture, brick sidewalks and large trees, giving it a traditional flavor amid modern suburban development. Rockville is a 35-minute drive (in non-rush hour traffic) from the White House, Capitol Hill and many national monuments.

Festival services will be conducted throughout the eight days, with plenty of time for sight-seeing in the nation's capital, where national parks and monuments have no admission charge. Numerous restaurants and hotels are in the vicinity of the meeting site. Hotel prices start around $40.

Three international airports provide access: Baltimore/Washington International, Dulles International (in northern Virginia) and National (downtown). Further details will be sent to those who register.

Galveston, Texas

The Festival site in Galveston will have a theme of racial healing and reconciliation. The format, schedule and activities will be set up to include the main Festival theme of celebrating salvation in Christ, but also to encourage and enable healing between the races.

God has called a diverse group of people into our fellowship, from every racial, cultural, economic and social background. We have a great need to learn to appreciate one another for our differences, as well as to recognize our oneness in Christ.

The Center for the Healing of Racism, based in Houston, Texas, will assist the church in presentations and workshops. We pray that harmony within the church will be greatly increased by what we learn at this Festival site.

The keynote speaker will be long-time minister Carn Catherwood, who has emphasized emotional and interracial healing in his ministry for many years. Worship services will include Festival sermons as well as messages specifically geared toward reconciliation.

Galveston is a leading tourist area on the Gulf of Mexico. The community will assist the church in this reconciliation effort by providing many services and facilities at reduced rates. Housing prices are being negotiated. Further information on the site will be sent to those who register.

We encourage people of all races and backgrounds within our fellowship who can attend to come and contribute to this learning and healing event.
