June 9 the Pasadena Women's Ministry, directed by Tammy Tkach, was host to a tea.
About 170 women from Pasadena and outlying churches paid $5 each to attend. The women were encouraged to wear hats and to bring their favorite tea cups. Prizes were given for the most unusual cup, the oldest cup and the prettiest cup.
Rose Keehn, 82, the "hat lady," was the guest speaker. Mrs. Keehn talked about the style and shape of hats during various periods in history. Then she called up women from the audience to try on some of the hats.
Men served tea and coffee and wore unusual headgear.
Finger sandwiches, cookies and scones were prepared by volunteers. The host of each table created a centerpiece for her table, which was raffled off as a fund-raiser for women's ministry projects. Marie Allworth, a member of the Pasadena Women's Ministry advisory panel, coordinated the tea.
