Services in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Festival services in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, will be conducted
at Kootenai County Fairgrounds, N 4060 Government Way, Coeur
d'Alene, Idaho. This is about one mile from most of the motels,
shopping, restaurants and other amenities. Glen Weber.
Galveston, Texas
We'd like to be more specific about the purpose of the
Galveston site and how it will operate. First, this is a
full-fledged regional eight-day site. Among the speakers at the
site will be long-time minister Carn Catherwood, and Curtis May, a
regional pastor who is working on racial and cultural
reconciliation within the church.
By discussing reconciliation, some may think we are setting up
an opportunity to accuse white members of sin and evil. That isn't
the case. The format of the workshops in Galveston will be to
expose how insidious racism is in our society, and how it hurts
everyone. By offering a chance to discuss the hurts of the past in
a nonthreatening environment, we can help all our members to bond
with one another and to heal together.
To heal and move forward together, we need participation by
all races and cultures in our fellowship at the site. If the only
members who come are minorities, we can't accomplish what we need
to. There is plenty of room left for everyone to contribute to this
event. Please see the announcement below. Mark McCulley.
Announcement: Galveston
We would like to encourage members who have not finalized
their Festival plans to consider attending in Galveston. Besides
glorifying our Savior in worship, we will also increase our
awareness and sensitivity toward racial reconciliation through
workshops and discussions led by professionals in the field.
As Christians, we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. He
himself has become our peace (Ephesians 2:14), and he invites us to
make peace with one another. Despite the wide diversity of race and
culture in the church, we can be one in Christ. The workshops and
discussions in Galveston will help us achieve that goal. But we
need to be there to make the goal a reality.
Please come and be part of a historic effort in the Worldwide
Church of God. By God's grace, we plan to begin a healing that will
spread throughout our fellowship. Once we have healed, that healing
can spread outside our fellowship to the many hurting people in our
society.
Latin America tour update
This year's Latin America Festival Fellowship Tours are
designed to promote Christian fellowship with Worldwide Church of
God members in Latin America.
We have selected four primary destinations from among a dozen
Festival sites in this part of the world. The tours are to Chile
($2,799 per person), Colombia ($1,699 per person), Costa Rica
($1,345 per person) or Uruguay ($2,785).
Latin American members are excited that they will have
visitors for the fall festival. They are already praying about it--
giving thanks that new friends are coming to see them.
Each of these tours will feature guide programs before the
Festival, but they will not be fully escorted with church or Travel
Gallery staff as with past programs such as China, Thailand,
Greece, the Alaska Cruise and Exotic Africa.
