After his resurrection, Jesus told his disciples, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).The teaching of Christ's way of life and the making of disciples is an ongoing commission--one the Worldwide Church of God upholds as its primary objective. That commission has been translated into the many programs and activities the church has developed to serve the needs of those in its fellowship as well as reaching out to people around the world. All the programs are the direct result of the faithful stewardship of church members and their desire to support the work of Jesus Christ and make a difference for the kingdom of God. Here are a few things your tithes and contributions make possible.
PASTORAL CARE--It is the role of the ministry to equip God's people, building up the body of Christ in the faith and knowledge of the Son of God. Counseling, Bible studies and seminars about family life, successful living and interpersonal relationships are also part of a minister's duties.
BANGLADESH--Church funding made possible the translation of What Is a Real Christian? into the Bengali language. John N. Biswas, president of National Gospel Outreach in Bangladesh, said the informative booklet has been successful in bringing the people of Bangladesh to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
THOSE IN NEED--The church assists hundreds of members in the United States including widows, single parents, the disabled and retirees whose pensions do not meet all their needs.
PRINT MEDIA--The commission of the church is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, and teach that God is reconciling the world to himself, offering forgiveness of sin and eternal life through his Son. The church fulfills this objective, to evangelize and to help believers grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, through its Christ-centered publications.
AU--Ambassador University is a regionally accredited, private, coeducational institution sponsored by the church. Ambassador offers majors in business administration, English, family studies, liberal studies, management information systems and psychology.
SEP--The Summer Educational Program is a ministry of the church that strives to help young people develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as well as offering a variety of physical activities such as sailing. [Photo by Abraham Lorenzo]
FALL FESTIVAL--The Festival Administration office serves members by planning the annual Festival of Tabernacles at sites in the United States and advising the regional offices on related matters for sites outside the United States. The office is responsible for negotiating favorable room rates for members' lodgings and distributing that information to members.
HEADQUARTERS--Conferences are regularly conducted for ministers, regional pastors and regional directors. The conferences allow interaction between headquarters personnel, the ministers and outside consultants.
