The church now has more than 20 house churches in operation. A house church is a small group of members meeting in a local home or similar small location rather than traveling to a distant church. Normally, it is limited to about 25 to 30 people, or the number that can be comfortably accommodated in a home.
The two major purposes are to reduce travel distance and costs and to assist with local evangelism. It is a means for serving the spiritual needs of our scattered brethren and facilitating church growth. Late last year the church formed a House Church Resource Team to test the waters for house churches. Team members are Grant Spong, pastor of Erie and Franklin, Pennsylvania, churches, and Ted Johnston, pastor of the Grand Junction and Craig, Colorado, churches.
