Thanks to those of you involved with the telephone fund-raiser that benefits local congregations.
Our long distance plan works with the same fiber optic cable and equipment as the big carriers (AT&T, MCI, Sprint)--only it costs less.
Signing up with our program is simple. You may 1) sign an order form (available at church), 2) have a member take your order over the phone, or 3) call 1-800-ONLY129. For calls to 1-800-ONLY129 use Dept. No. 119 -- ID No. ______ (ask your pastor for the congregation number or use 888 for general fund).
UniDial and PSI pay 7 percent to your congregation for every person (member or friend) who signs up with your congregation number.
Reports are run monthly and sent to the pastor so the congregation can see the participation and earnings.
Telephone industry studies show that AT&T has 80 percent of the residential market and that AT&T is the most expensive long distance carrier.
Studies also show that 80 percent of residential long distance dollars are spent on out of state calls. Our best rate saves where 80 percent of long distance dollars are spent.
Our plan of 12.9 cents a minute on out of state calls has the best possible savings for most residential users.
Two categories of phone users should not sign up for our service. First, are those who rarely spend more than $10 a month on long distance. Although our rates are much less than AT&T, we have a $2.50 monthly service charge.
Second, if you are a business that makes the majority of its long distance calls within the state, you may want to consider our commercial plan. This plan is designed for people who always spend more than $50 a month on long distance calls.
Our program is designed to serve all involved. Please don't sign up if our program would not help you.
If members participated solely on the basis of what saved them money, more than 80 percent would sign up, and local congregations would receive more than $600,000 a year. Our goal is to have 20,000 members and friends on our program by Dec. 31. We'll let you know how we are doing in the WN. Let's take the call and say yes to helping our ministries.
