CAPE TOWN, South Africa--The South African Office administered Festival sites in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mauritius.
The talent evening at the Feast in Strand was a roaring success. Impromptu singing from some of the members left others in fits of laughter.
Camel rides on family day also provided amusing moments, and the fire brigade made a foam pool for the children.
Spiritually, members felt it was an enriching Feast. Guest speaker James Henderson's opening message set a celebratory tone. Festival coordinator Ron Stoddart commented, "This Feast was a dream for me because everything fell in place." Ron Stoddart.
Feastgoers in Port Alfred were inspired, uplifted and spiritually filled. They warmly welcomed guest speaker James Henderson and his family from Nairobi, Kenya, during their visit. John White.
The Celebration of Salvation in Durban was characterized by a feeling of joyous brotherly love.
An extra dimension was added to the worship services in the form of the Durban band, which accompanied the singing with guitars, flutes, a piano and keyboard. Neville Bowes.
In Zambia 162 people gathered at four sites. Lusaka had an attendance of 76; Kitwe 31; Petauke 40; and Mumbwa 15. Because of a bad economy and long distances the brethren appreciated the chance for fellowship.
Coordinator Kalengule Kaoma said: "We decided to take the Feast to our fellow co-workers and their families in outlying areas, thus making it possible for more people to attend."
One member said, "We are grateful to God and to Jesus Christ, who made it possible for us to attend with our children." Kalengule Kaoma.
Because of finances and distances it was decided that the Feast would be celebrated near Mbabane, Swaziland. Jimmy Nicolau and Mashudu Ramano gave sermons in addition to taped sermons from Pasadena.
For Jameson Dlamini, former prime minister, and his wife, this was a dream come true for them to celebrate the Feast in their own country. Jimmy Nicolau.
A few visitors from Switzerland, France, South Africa and the island of Reunion joined Mauritian members for the Feast. Music plays a great part in the lives of Mauritian people, and the church there has a talented choir. The teens had a fun-filled day waterskiing, snorkeling and boating. Gordon and Marilys Green.
Coordinator Stanley James said that the cooperation of the resort staff was superb. Bouquets were given to staff members at the beginning of one service, and most of them stayed for the rest of the service.
Festival elder Morgen Kriedemann called it "truly an outstanding Feast." Johann Grobler.
Harare was a local site for those who could not attend in Victoria Falls. Anthony Taderera, a deacon, said: "I enjoyed it very much. I was used to big sites. So this was pleasant and relaxed." Dawn Chimba.
"It has been encouraging to see people solidly united behind Christ and their church leaders despite the hardships they are going through," said Mavis Kanda at the Feast here.
Prayer meetings took place before each service. Evison Mutiwasekwa.
