Church officials visit Ambassador, interact with students

BIG SANDY--Managers and staff from Church Administration visited Ambassador University Nov.16-23.

Those visiting the campus were Michael Feazell, director of Church Administration; Randal Dick, superintendent of missions; Dan Rogers, superintendent of U.S. ministers; and Charles Albrecht, Church Administration business manager.

Mr. Feazell attended an alumni seminar and participated in several other alumni functions during the week.

In addition, he spoke at worship services and served as guest lecturer for several classes, including Epistles of Paul and Systematic Theology.

At the university chapel service Mr. Rogers described the concept of ministry and outlined the need and function of lay pastors in the United States. Mr. Rogers also taught several classes and spoke during the Big Sandy congregation's worship service Nov. 23.

As superintendent of missions, Mr. Dick was asked to present an international update for interested students during an assembly. Aside from being a guest lecturer for several classes, he also addressed the combined Dallas churches Nov. 23.

Ambassador student Kathi Nomm said that "the visit helped me to see how the church's administration values Ambassador students by taking the time to be with us, and further, they showed us how our lives will relate to the church in the future." Miss Nomm further commented that "the visit emphasized the connection between the university and church."

Student Aaron Bennis said: "It was impressive to see the ministers involved with the students by teaching classes and holding meetings. Even though the university is basically financially independent, it is good to know that the church still has a strong interest in the university."

Student interviews were conducted throughout the week by Mr. Rogers, Mr. Dick and Mr. Albrecht. Students were interested in finding out more about developing ministries within congregations, opportunities as lay pastors and overseas mission internships.

Mr. Rogers said that "it was encouraging to see how many students had a clear vision of where the church is going and how to get there."

Mr. Rogers added that "it was especially uplifting for us as managers in Church Administration to interact with the students."
