HARTFORD CITY, Indiana--A women's retreat March 21 to 23 brought 264 women from 18 churches to the Lake Placid Retreat Center here.
"Let Your Light Shine" was the theme of the retreat, sponsored by the Muncie Women's Ministry. Guest speakers were Tammy Tkach, Sheila Graham and Pastor General Joseph Tkach.
Prayers and music facilitated get-acquainted activities. Saturday morning, Mr. Tkach gave a sermon titled "You Can Make a Difference," and cited positive examples of women who made a difference in biblical history. He delivered the same message that afternoon to 281 brethren from eight churches.
Mrs. Tkach, Women's Ministry Support coordinator for the Worldwide Church of God, gave a presentation titled "Do You Know Who You Are?" at the Saturday afternoon session.
Mrs. Graham, editor of Christian Women inTouch, spoke about "Women's Ministry-- What It Is and What It Isn't." Four workshops followed. Topics were menopause, stress management, parenting and volunteering. Presenters were Gail Benbow, Linda Grinnell and Marcie DeShong of the Muncie church, and Mrs. Graham.
That evening Ardith Tolbot, humorist and therapist from Richmond, Indiana, gave a presentation titled "Have a Blast While You Last." Mrs. Tolbot serves with the Society of Friends.
Sunday morning included sessions on lay counseling and servant leadership. Debbie Rowe from Muncie gave the final workshop titled "You and Prayer."
Mrs. Tolbot told retreat coordinator Gwen DeShong of Muncie: "I predict that the WCG Women's Ministry will lead the next revival of Protestant churches."
