Housing and barbecue for Stand in the Gap conference

WASHINGTON, D.C.--A limited amount of housing with members is available for men attending the Promise Keepers Stand in the Gap conference here Oct. 4, according to Lloyd Garrett, pastor of the Washington North and Central churches.

Many men have contacted both Lloyd and Dan Thompson, pastor of the Burke, Virginia, church, about housing. Because housing is limited, they have arranged housing through a member-owned travel agency known as CMC Travel from Oct. 2 to 5 at Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Center, 800 Florida Ave. NE, Washington D.C., 20002-3695.

The prices for accommodations per night are $130*, double occupancy, including a full breakfast; and $150*, quadruple occupancy, including a full breakfast. Prices are subject to the following taxes: 13 percent on guest rooms (plus $1.50 occupancy fee). Check-in time is 3 p.m. Check-out time is noon. Though the rates seem high, this is normal for the Washington area.

Call CMC Travel at 1-800-972-9043 for reservations and to provide information on check-in and check-out dates, form of payment, and whether it is a double occupancy or a quad occupancy. The deadline is Sept. 2.

Lloyd expects from 350 to 500 WCG men from across the nation to attend Stand in the Gap. The Washington church will be host for a barbecue with food, fellowship, praise and worship for WCG men Friday, Oct. 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Luther Rice Memorial Baptist Church, 801 University Blvd. West, Silver Spring, Maryland. The cost is $15 for each person.

This same information, including directions to the church, was sent to all church pastors. For more information about housing or the barbecue, call Lloyd Garrett at 1-301-805-8636 or contact him by e-mail at lloyd_b._garrett@wcg.org
