SAN ANTONIO, Texas--Eleven WCG congregational leaders were among San Antonio pastors and worship leaders who attended a worship conference conducted by Jack Hayford titled "On Earth as it is in Heaven" Oct. 28.
The conference focus was the pastoral role in cultivating vital, vibrant congregational worship. Pastor Hayford showed how worship is the pastor's primary ministry. We were shown how worship is a shaping influence and helps determine the direction of our spiritual lives.
During the morning session Pastor Hayford mentioned reading from a new book on his flight to San Antonio. From the comments we knew he was referring to Mr. Tkach's book, Transformed by Truth.
At the break we talked with him. He said he had heard that our group was coming. In services the following weekend some of our participants spoke to the congregation about their experience, and the sermon was on worship.
At the close of the meeting, while having a picture taken of Pastor Hayford, cohosts Max Lucado, in whose church the conference took place, and Dan Hicks, pastor of the San Antonio Church on the Way, and myself, Mr. Lucado asked the name of the book about the WCG that had been referred to. He said he wanted to read it.
I gave him a copy, and he invited me back to his office where we talked and he autographed a copy of his latest book, The Great House of God, and gave it to me.
We thanked Mr. Hayford, Mr. Lucado and Mr. Hicks for an enlightening and inspirational day. We had shared a day of unity with leaders of other denominations as they too represented the body of Christ.
