Churches combine for service in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama--The Huntsville congregation of the Worldwide Church of God was host for combined worship services with the Church of God (Seventh Day) Dec. 28.

Five hundred people from 13 church areas attended the service, which took place at the Space Center Marriott Hotel in Huntsville. Guest speakers were Calvin Burrell, president of the General Conference of the Church of God (Seventh Day) in Denver, Colorado, and Joseph Tkach, pastor general of the Worldwide Church of God.

Mr. Burrell expounded on the doctrinal, social and moral tests of Christianity described in 1 John, and Mr. Tkach told the story of a father who chose to sacrifice the life of his son in order to save the lives of many other people.

After the service, Tammy Tkach conducted a seminar on women's ministry.

A concert followed at the chapel of the Salvation Army. To conclude the day, nearly 20 people attended a free ice-skating event sponsored by the Huntsville Church of God (Seventh Day). Tom Dow and Clyde Thompson.

Women's retreat

DES MOINES, Iowa--A women's retreat with the theme "Building Relationships: Upward, Inward and Outward" will be conducted in Des Moines April 11 (5 p.m.), 12 and 13 (2 p.m.).

Speakers will be Tammy Tkach and Sheila Graham, from Women's Ministry Support in Pasadena.

SEP Big Sandy

A Summer Educational Program (SEP) is planned for Big Sandy June 17 to July 3. The cost will be $495 and applications will be available in February. More details will be announced in the next Worldwide News.
