Christian Business Leaders: glorifying God by their lives
Christian Business Leaders Worldwide (CBLW), formed by Pasadena members a year ago, meets once month for breakfast meetings.
Members pray, and a guest speaker addresses a subject involving Christian business management.
"CBLW builds members into pillars in their communities so God may receive glory," President Steve Golden said. "Christians are being heard more and more in the business world."
CBLW believes in representing Christ by applying biblical principles and Christian values in the work place, Steve said.
CBLW is also dedicated to helping unemployed members find suitable employment and assisting them in career guidance or business development. CBLW believes in doing "good to all men and especially those of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10), and looking not only to one's own interests, but also the interests of others (Philippians 2:4).
Consistent with the mission, CBLW put on Southern California Job Fair 2000 on June 22. Several hundred people visited with hiring companies, employment agencies and small business support booths.
Additionally, workshops ranged from networking to interviewing techniques. On hand to open the day's events were William Crowfoot, Pasadena vice mayor, Joseph Tkach, and Christopher Nance, KNBC channel 4 weatherman .
Mark Leon was job fair manager. He was assisted by Arthur Carlisle (small business recruiting); Harriet Carlisle (concessions); Karen Golden (publicity); Fred Stevens (workshop coordinator); Joe Wright (company and agency recruiting); Doug Rendall (Internet services); and Robin Connelly (event coordinator).
Part of the CBLW mission is to help raise local chapters within existing congregations. For information on starting a local chapter, please contact Stephen Golden at 1-626-584-5842 or by e-mail at christbiz@hotmail.com
