Intensive training given to new pastor candidates

OPENING REMARKS--Mr. Tkach opens conference for new pastors June 30.

Nearly 40 new pastor candidates and their wives met in Pasadena June 30 to July 5 for a new pastor intensive training session. These new, nonsalaried pastors serve the smaller congregations.

Each will serve in this capacity for six months before receiving a permanent commission. The new pastor candidates participated in the following interactive sessions:

Joseph Tkach, pastor general's address; Mike Feazell, the renewal pastor, and prayer paradigms; Dan Rogers, the pastor's ministry, preaching, overview of Christian theology, and along with Mike Feazell, WCG doctrines and how to teach them; Tammy Tkach, women's ministries; Dave Smith, youth ministries; Mr. Albrecht, church relations; Ron Kelly and Ralph Orr, pastoral development; Bernie Schnippert, update from the treasurer; and Sun Yet Tan, a professor at Fuller Seminary, lay counseling.

After meeting and speaking with several new pastors, longtime minister Dean Blackwell said: "My faith in the new pastor program skyrocketed with this group of men and their wives. They encourage us headquarters people so much."
