Churches celebrate anniversaries

GLENDORA, California--On Pentecost, June 15, 252 worshipers gathered at the Glendora Masonic Hall to celebrate 25 years of the WCG in Glendora.

The Glendora church was formed as an outreach of the church's headquarters congregations in June 1972.

Guest speakers and dignitaries included Dennis Wheatcroft, former Glendora pastor, and his wife, Sidni; Patricia Massie, chair of the Inland Empire National Day of Prayer committee; Roger Lippross, associate publisher of Youth 97; and Luther Brown of the Glendora Masons.

The church has met in the Masonic Hall for 25 years.

Deacon Al Neumann presented a friendship plaque to Mr. Brown in honor of 25 years of cooperation.

Mrs. Massey saluted the Glendora church's contribution to the National Day of Prayer, especially its media advertising efforts.

Pastor Neil Earle said: "Members were responsible for inviting almost 100 people-- friends, family and outsiders to church.

"This shows that personal evangelism can work, but people need special events to come to. This is the second time we've done this in six months, and the results are encouraging."

TYLER, Texas--The Tyler church celebrated its 20th anniversary June 28.

The event began with a brunch provided by the staff of the Women's Building, where the church has been meeting for 20 years.

The worship service began with prayer, hymn singing and special music.

Don Mears, Big Sandy pastor, began the service, and David Bilowus directed music selections.

Connie Magranahan, who spends many hours giving to members, received a special presentation.

Retired pastor Kenneth Swisher gave the sermon. Jane Oswald, a past president of the Tyler Woman's Forum, gave a speech of appreciation.
