Festival site coordinators have commented on the 1997 Festival of Tabernacles,
Celebrating the Kingdom of God. We thought you might enjoy reading what they are saying in
anticipation of our joyful worship this fall:
"I have been deeply moved to observe and experience the emphasis on joyful celebration
in our Festival of Tabernacles gatherings. What a great opportunity it is to gather with part of
the family of God for a worship retreat in settings that, themselves, testify to the majesty of our
Creator and King!" (Ted Johnston, Vail, Colorado)
"I am very excited about the themes of the lections (sermon outlines)--they are
encouraging, educational, and motivational. Celebrating the kingdom means living the kingdom.
I truly feel that the 1997 Feast will steer our fellowship into a more active role of being
ambassadors of the kingdom." (Greg Williams, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina)
"We have heard from some who are planning to attend the fall festival in Hawaii and
they are really excited!" (Curtis May, Hawaii)
"Since we are using a church building this year, the building is going to be conducive
to our services. Many people are already volunteering to serve in various capacities, and the
worship music is already being planned. I'm expecting an inspiring festival this year." (Glen
Weber, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho)
Comments such as these point out some of the benefits to the church of conducting
Festival services. The Festival of Tabernacles has been transformed from a commanded
observance, however joyful it was in the past, to a celebration of delight and pleasure in the
presence of God.
Celebrating the Festival has led church members to rejoice together as we reflect on
God's presence and direction for each of us.
This year's lectionary provides meaty teaching that will help us learn about and rejoice
in the wonder and majesty of God's kingdom. Sermon titles will include "Like a Grain of
Mustard Seed," "The Conquering Peaceful Kingdom," "The Reign That Brings Growth,"
"Sharing the Kingdom," "The Glory of the Kingdom," "Making a Difference for the Kingdom"
and "Let it Begin with Me."
Come join with us to celebrate the kingdom of God. We are working hard to provide
inspiring, fulfilling worship and meaningful, meaty sermons that will leave you with a real
picture of God's kingdom. We hope many church members will be able to join us at one of our
sites in the United States or elsewhere around the world.
There's still time to register, and there is room at almost every site. To attend, please
register for the site of your choice using the form sent by mail in March, or see your pastor for
another copy.
