I would like to encourage men to attend the Promise Keepers Oct. 4 conference in Washington, D.C., with the theme Stand in the Gap.
This promises to be an experience of Christian bonding among men from all walks of life who love the Lord.
I am greatly impressed with Promise Keepers. Their goal is to teach men to become godly men through personal and spiritual growth and reconciliation with God, families and neighbors.
Their current focus is to help men become godly men willing to stand for righteousness. We have a burning desire to stand in the gap and pray for God's kingdom in its fullness to save a dying world.
I am reminded of Ezekiel 22:30: "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none" (King James Version).
Promise Keepers is the most powerful movement of reconciliation I have witnessed. It speaks to the broad scope of male relationships: husband and wife; father and son; man and man; and man and God. This heartfelt expression of manliness serves to free up the participants to be vulnerable in the childlike manner Christ described, yet leaving them confident in what God created them to be.
For conference registration call Promise Keepers at 1-800-888-7595. Travel arrangements can be made through Travel Gallery at 1-800-858-6999.
