Homebound: what can I do?

I have been homebound since 1995, and I was wondering what I could do.

I wanted to do more than pray. After reading The Worldwide News, God put the following in my mind. Since I'm alone and want and need visits and calls, I thought I could make calls and let others know someone cares. This would help me and others.

This gives me something to look forward to every day. I love people, and this makes me feel good. I feel so blessed.

Moms in Touch International

Finally, finally, after hoping for a Moms in Touch International (MITI) prayer group since I first heard about it at the Feast, I met with two other moms of students at my daughter's school for prayer.

MITI is an organization that tries to form prayer groups to cover every school in America (and elsewhere, once that goal is accomplished) with prayers from mothers of the students.

It's been written about in the WN (Oct. 29, page 12), and I first heard about it at a Feast women's ministry meeting.

I can do nothing but rave about our first prayer meeting. I'd only talked to one of the women on the phone and never met the other.

Yet as I'm learning, there's nothing like praying with someone to quickly learn a lot about them, because when prayer is sincere, there are no false fronts, there can be no misperception of a personality.

I've already learned through our church's prayer group that when I pray about something with others, they can put a slightly different spin on a situation and enrich my own prayers.

I found this to be true with these two ladies (one a Baptist, one a Presbyterian, both Christians).

One of the things we prayed about was our school's principal, who lost his father a couple of months ago. I prayed that the Lord would comfort our principal even if the man doesn't actually seek him, because we know that he is the Lord's child even if he doesn't know it.

One of the other ladies chimed in, "And you, Lord, are a greater Father to him than his own human father ever was, and he needs to have your comfort now."

We prayed that the students of the school would be taught to respect the other students and administration, that the teachers would use their talents to their fullest, that the teachers would have exciting ideas to use in their teaching plans, and that our children in particular would find Christian friends in school and be able to share their faith with those friends.

We even prayed for the crossing guards, that they would be alert and that they would be protected with our children.
