Southern California women have an evening with Emilie Barnes

Two hundred women from Southern California spent Wednesday evening, May 7, with Emilie Barnes, author, Christian speaker and home management expert.

During her two-hour presentation Mrs. Barnes used the tea cup and tea party as well as her life story to illustrate how women fill their cup with different things.

Her cup of submission was filled twice in her life, first when she initially gave her life to the Lord and second, when her last child left for college and she didn't feel needed any longer.

She then submitted herself and her talents to God. God used that submission to show her and her husband, Bob, they could fill a need among women. They founded More Hours in My Day time management seminars. God used them to help many women in their journey with God and in the struggle to manage themselves and their homes.

Other things that fill our cups are: criticism, forgiveness, sacrifice, pain, prayer, tradition, giving and teaching, Mrs. Barnes said. Sometimes the cups break. And sometimes the "cup runneth over." She showed how important it is to empty cups when they are filled with negatives such as criticism and how to deal with a cup that is filled with pain. Maryann Stevens.
