Members have spiritual Feast in Caribbean

By Patrick Fearon

FREEPORT, Bahamas--The celebration of the kingdom of God at the Feast of Tabernacles was nothing short of a grand spiritual fest at the 12 sites in the Caribbean.

"This is one of the most spiritual Feasts I have ever attended," was a typical comment. Prayer meetings, Spirit-filled praise and worship occasions, inspiring messages and meaningful fellowship characterized Caribbean sites.

Festival activities

Among the memorable moments for members who attended Feast '97 in Arima, Trinidad, were two praise and worship services, a family picnic and a trip for seniors to the Asa Wright Nature Center, along with hikes for the youths and children.

Members in Georgetown, Guyana, spent much time worshiping, sharing and encouraging one another at the YMCA facility on the outskirts of Georgetown.

WCG members in Castries, St. Lucia, sponsored a public Gospel concert the evening of Oct. 18. Earlier in the day Pastor General Joseph Tkach and his family visited the site along with more than 150 members on the Festival cruise.

In Freeport, Bahamas, WCG members attended services with their Presbyterian brothers and sisters Sunday, Oct. 19. The Freeport congregation rents the Presbyterian meeting hall for worship services.

That same day Freeport members prepared and delivered hot meals to 50 needy people. A baptismal ceremony capped off the day as a new member, originally from South Africa, was added to the local flock.

Thirty members who attended a four-day Feast in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, visited a hospital and sang hymns and prayed with patients.

In Kingston, Jamaica, members will long remember Jamaica Night 1997, where indigenous dishes complemented a fun-filled talent show.

In Roseau, Dominica, three men and three women led a discussion on Sharing the Kingdom. A community gathering involved government officials, as well as church and lay leaders on the island. It included a discussion about the family and a one-hour prayer session.

Our new life in Christ

On the last day of the Feast, members in Hamilton, Bermuda, participated in a celebration of The Lord's Supper. It was a fitting end to a spiritual Festival where members celebrated the glorious kingdom of God and our new life in Jesus--a life made possible through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
