TAUNTON, Massachusetts--More than 700 people from New England, New York and New Jersey welcomed Joe and Tammy Tkach to Taunton, Massachusetts, for worship services Sept. 27.
Regional pastor Steve Botha led the service. A combined choir conducted by Serge Volpe sang "The Solid Rock" and "Love Is a More Excellent Way." In his sermon, "A Talent for Suffering," Mr. Tkach showed how Christ's distinctive style of teaching through parables offers us insights about our new life in him and our responsibility to advance his kingdom. As Christians, our new life requires us to accept responsibility and endure the exposure of new risks as Christ lives in us.
After lunch at the Holiday Inn, Mrs. Tkach spoke to the women about making Jesus their lifelong partner and the center of their lives, while Mr. Tkach led a question and answer session for the men. A number of members said they appreciated Mr. and Mrs. Tkach being so friendly, down to earth and easy to talk to.
Later that evening Mr. and Mrs. Tkach enjoyed food and fellowship with elders and their families at the home of Dennis and Lorraine Pelley, who pastor the Providence, Rhode Island, and Norwich, Connecticut, churches.
