BURKE, Virginia--The Burke congregation has organized a low-cost alternative to hotel accommodations for the Stand in the Gap conference in Washington, D.C., Oct. 4.
The congregation has arranged to rent a school gymnasium and shower facilities for the night before the event. All we offer is a floor--bring your own sleeping bag--from 6:30 p.m., Friday, to 8:30 a.m., Saturday. We can accommodate only 200 men. Showers will be available on a schedule.
The school's booster club will sell a light breakfast (coffee, doughnuts, bagels).
The gym is in Falls Church, Virginia, about eight miles west of Washington. It is a five-minute walk from the Metro-rail, which provides direct access to the Mall in Washington, where Stand in the Gap will take place.
The Burke congregation will not charge a fee for the facilities, but a contribution box will be available for those who wish to offset the expenses, which will be about $1,200.
Please have your men's ministry coordinator find out whether men in your congregation would like to use this facility, and as soon as possible, please let Dan Thompson, pastor of the Burke congregation, know how many men are interested in using the gym. We will need a firm commitment by the latter part of September.
