MEMPHIS, Tennessee--More than 500 members attended the dedication service of the Memphis congregation's new church building Aug. 16. Pastor General Joseph Tkach was guest speaker.
The church acquired the new hall, which once served as a small private school, about 18 months ago. During that time, and through the use of mostly volunteer labor, church members made many renovations to the facility. They gutted eight classrooms, which now serve as the sanctuary.
The acquisition of the building brought to an end a problem long experienced by the Memphis church. Because facilities were unavailable in the area, and other factors, the Memphis congregation has had to endure meeting in one hall after another.
Sometimes members wouldn't even know where services were to be conducted the following week. For the first time in a decade, Memphis has been able to meet regularly in the same place for more than a year.
The dedication service was followed by music provided by the Memphis praise and worship band. A potluck followed, as well as an opportunity for members to meet with Mr. Tkach.
