SAN ANTONIO, Texas--Sixteen San Antonio teens attended a regional youth evangelism conference Jan. 23-24.
The conference, titled Hot Hearts, was filled with praise and worship, memorable messages, and top-quality contemporary Christian music.
One goal of Hot Hearts since its inception more than 10 years ago is to encourage teens to have a hot heart for the gospel of Christ.
According to Joe Dacus, chairman of Hot Hearts '98, the conference was geared to drawing the body of Christ "to a closer walk with Jesus Christ, just as he did on the road to Emmaus" (Luke 24:32).
Judging from the comments of teens who attended the event, the conference was a success.
Many teenagers felt they were closer to Jesus than they had ever been.
Hope Gonzalez, 13, realized that having "Jesus in your life is better than just thinking about him every once in a while."
Brandon Campbell, 16, said: "I have a better understanding of what Jesus can do for me. I got to know him better."
The teens were given several opportunities during the conference to make a public commitment to follow Jesus Christ. Eleven of the San Antonio teens publicly committed or renewed their commitments to following Jesus.
On of them, Katrina Conrad, 14, said with a smile: "I felt like I was getting a load off my back. I feel good now."
After the conference, several of the teens asked to have a weekly prayer meeting.
