In April, U.S. members will receive a full-color brochure and application form for our eight U.S. Festival locations.
These locations, Seaside, Oregon; Palm Springs, California; Vail, Colorado; Davenport, Iowa; Hot Springs, Arkansas; Lexington, Kentucky; Saratoga Springs, New York; and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, will be the gathering spots for Christian fellowship, moving worship, informative workshops and seminars and inspiring messages.
(See below, for information on the Alaska and Hawaii sites.)
Planning for the Festival is a year-round job, and our staff of field ministers and volunteers gladly serve to make this a memorable time for all who attend. You can be a big help with this year's planning by completing your application form soon after you receive the Festival mailer.
We would like to show our appreciation for early registration by sending all adults who register by June 8 a Festival '98 ballpoint pen. You'll be reminded of the Festival every time you use it before, during and after the Feast.
If you plan to attend a site with family and friends from other areas, please call them to determine for sure where you all will be attending. Then complete the registration form, place it in the self-mailer and mail it back to us.
You can also register by a toll-free call, by fax, on the WCG Internet website or by e-mail.
After we receive your registration information, we will mail you a packet of information about the site. It will contain a letter from the Festival coordinator, information on recreation, some of the plans for the Festival and information on available housing.
When you receive this packet you can call for housing reservations. We ask that you not call for reservations until you receive the list of approved housing establishments.
By working with selected hotels and motels, we can negotiate the best possible prices for our members.
For many years the fall Festival has been self-supporting--no funds from the operating expenses of the church have had to be used.
Years ago, we asked members to donate a tithe of the second tithe for Festival administration. The past couple of years, however, we have reduced expenses and now request a donation of $135 for each family and $80 for a single adult.
For family purposes, we mean a husband, wife and children under the age of 18. Adult children and extended family members should complete a separate registration form and donation.
These donations are used to provide a week of worship and are considered part of your charitable donations to the church. It will be included in your annual donation receipt for tax purposes.
At this time, we are registering only for the eight full Festival sites. Whether you plan to attend for eight days or only a few days, we would appreciate your completing the registration form and returning it by June 8. We hope you all have a pleasant time planning for the Festival.
The Alaska congregations invite you to celebrate Christ with them at the Festival in Anchorage.
Teens can anticipate developing friendships as well as engaging in uplifting services together. Workshops on mission work and our relationship with Christ are scheduled.
Workshops, children's services and activities, and men's and women's ministry events will highlight the eight days. Leonard Holladay.
The Hawaii Feast will again be at the Turtle Bay Hilton on Oahu, where every room has an ocean view. Rooms are $115 a night plus tax.
We are preparing for eight days of music, messages, prayer and Christian living workshops. Plan to bring the family, as there will be teen activities and children's church throughout the Festival. Curtis May.
