Connected to the body of Christ

I especially liked Randal Dick's article "Who Put the W in the WCG?" (WN, Jan. 27). It's exciting to read about the church's contact, especially through members, with other Christians.

I also enjoyed the article on the student worship services at Texas A&M and also the reaction to Mr. Tkach's book, Transformed by Truth, which I have read twice so far.

I love getting the WN. I feel connected to the body of Christ.

New magazine

After reading some of the articles in The PT, I feel compelled to write and tell you how I feel about the Worldwide Church of God.

My wife of 32 years has attended the WCG faithfully all these years, while I (of another faith) sat on the sidelines watching in bewilderment. I could not understand why she believed the way she did, but since she was at least confessing the same God as I, I left her alone, except for an occasional study of God's word.

About a year ago, after returning from worship services she began to tell me of the changes taking place in the WCG. After learning of the changes, I became interested, or maybe curious would be a better term. I started to attend church with her about eight months ago, and I'm still there with her and for her.

I have been receiving the new PT since last June. In the early '70s I received the old PT. I stopped taking it when I was saved by God's grace in 1974.

I am a member of a Baptist church. Sometimes on Saturdays I go to WCG services in Toronto. It impresses me how that church has been willing to admit error. While the WCG has not arrived (and no other church has), it has come closer to the full truth.

The PT has become a source of inspiration for me. You, Mike Feazell and others always seem to speak to my heart first, then my mind.

Keith Stump's "The End Is Here ... Again" (January-February) was carefully crafted to present a reasonable response to those who seem to ignore Jesus' statement that we don't know when the end is.

The rest of that issue helped me focus on Jesus. I usually become distracted by the waves and wind of life. When I focus on Jesus, he helps me walk on water. What a blessed relief--what rest and peace! Thank God for the glorious gospel of Jesus.

I haven't been able to say this in the past. For years I found the magazine irrelevant to my needs. This may have reflected my unhealthy spiritual condition more than the content of the magazine. Or, perhaps, the magazine is growing and so am I. God bless and keep you all.

Tired of looking cross-eyed at others

The subject of judging is something I feel we were well-trained at. I grew up in the church. I know how it feels to be intimidated because of choices about days, food, clothing and hairstyles.

I also know what it's like to put on a happy face, while dying emotionally on the inside.

I think some who sit at home and do not attend anymore may also feel judged and intimidated over choices they are making.

There can be many reasons people decide not to come back. I believe that hurt feelings is a big reason. I have a need to reach out to them and show them that Jesus isn't judging them. He is anxious to love them.

I can't live for Jesus toward my neighbors if I am not allowing him to live in me.

We all like to feel loved and accepted, but somehow we have a tendency not to love and accept certain others. I have this quality.

I thank God for his grace toward me. I want to grow in grace, because I am tired of looking cross-eyed at others. I don't know what is in the other person's heart.

I don't know if those who sit at home will ever come back, but I feel more of them will be able to develop a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ if they are shown his love.

When they feel loved by him and are in love with him and are being led by him, their lives will change for the better and they too can have this joy we have now in Jesus Christ.

WN redesign

Just gotta let you know how thrilled I am with the new WN format. So easy to read, no searching for the other part of an article, easy to handle and file.

Plus all the news and deeper understanding of what God is revealing, and the Bible Study. Oh dear, just every page of it. I have received the WN for all 25 years, but this is the best one so far.

Your sister in Christ.

If you are keeping score, mark me in the hurrays column concerning the reformatted WN.

I am blind. However, I have been blessed with a device that scans printed material and translates it into a synthesized voice.

But the PT and WN were just loaded with so many visual bells and whistles that my device had a world of trouble decoding the stuff.

Now the Espinoza family here prints out just the straight text of the PT articles. And now comes the new WN, which--so far--seems excellently straightforward.

I may now keep as current as I wish, and I can help others like me to do so as well. Probably for the first time I feel almost like a normal WCG member.

Thank you for the new format of the WN. I think I will put tabs on the pages with information to pray about and highlight the names of people in the area, such as our newest members in Africa (Feb. 24 WN).

I've always devoured the WN, but now it's easier to handle while devouring.

Thanks to all whose hard work makes the WCG come to our door.

An elderly lady in the Ada, Oklahoma, church is very, very happy to see the WN in its new format.

She suffered a stroke a year ago, affecting her ability to hold things and move things with her hands. It is difficult for her to hold a traditional newspaper and turn the pages, but the new WN format works just great for her.

It's difficult to express in writing the joy I saw in her face and heard in her voice when she told this to me.

Her name is Fern Swinford, and I know that if she ever met you she'd make sure you knew how happy she is to be able to hold the WN, turn the pages and read it.

I really like the WN in magazine form. It is more convenient to hold and read.

The Bible Study addition is much appreciated. It will help fill the gap of the correspondence course, which we all liked and miss.

I look forward to every issue of the WN. It keeps us connected to headquarters.

Thanks for all you and the staff do to keep us informed.
