Sri Lankan pastor survives bomb blast

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka--I am now home after my vehicle was lifted off the ground and shaken as a result of a bomb blast. I was on my way home after school from Wattala and had just got into the main part of Colombo when 200 meters from where I was a van bomb went off.

I thought I had been hit by another vehicle and instantly I tried to stop, when I realised in the same instant that the van had just been lifted about a foot and dropped back on the road. One of the Worldwide Educational Institute teachers, Chamila Waragoda, was also in the vehicle at the time.

Then there was chaos. People were running everywhere, and vehicles were speeding around in all directions. To move about 200 meters to an exit road to find a way out and home took ages, and I just made it home after taking nearly two hours to do the trip that normally takes 10 minutes.

I am glad I had my cell phone so I could call home and let them know I was OK. Truly thankful that God looks out for us.

Cheers,

Mohan Jayasekera
