Constance Martin-Wilson honored as black achiever

BOSTON, Massachusetts--Constance Martin-Wilson was nominated by her employer, Lotus Development Corp., and recognized Jan. 22 by the YMCA Black Achievers program as one of its 84 1998 YMCA Black Achievers.

Black Achievers "recognizes African-American employees for their career accomplishments, who in partnership with their employers commit their time and talents to the development of young people."

Pasadena church launches men's ministry program

Fifty-one men gathered for a luncheon meeting Jan. 31 to begin the Pasadena men's ministry.

Guest speaker Dennis Wilson of Promise Keepers challenged the men to answer God's call to be counted.

Paul Sniffen, Pasadena men's ministry coordinator, reminded everyone of the need for men to mentor each other, especially in times of need.

During the Promise Keepers clergy conference in San Diego, California, Jan. 29, Pasadena ministers of various denominations traveled in a bus sponsored by the WCG men's ministry. Mr. Sniffen was one of the invited panel speakers. Bermie Dizon.

San Jose church host for 1977-1981 teen reunion

SAN JOSE, California--If you were between the ages of 41/2 and 19 from 1977 to 1981 and were a member of the San Jose youth group, we have a reunion in store for you, Memorial Day, May 25.

Minister receives masters degree in biblical counseling

NEWBURGH, Indiana--Chris Beam, pastor of the Houston, Texas, North churches, received a master of arts degree in biblical counseling Jan. 20 from Trinity Theology Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana. He graduated with high distinction.

Member coordinates local church fund-raising

SIMI VALLEY, California--Mardy Cobb, a member in the Canoga Park, California, church, serves as the national fund-raising coordinator for the Worldwide Church of God.

Under his direction even small congregations have generated thousands of dollars to go toward local church activities.

Mr. Cobb said that the most profitable fund-raisers are the fruit and telephone fund-raisers.

In seven years the fruit fund-raiser has generated more than $1 million for the local congregations. Some congregations have made as much as $40,000 in one three-week sale, Mr. Cobb said.

Alexandria church celebrates 25th anniversary

ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana--The Alexandria church celebrated its 25th anniversary Dec. 20.

Seven of the original members were present: Eliza Hunter, Rosa Shorter, Pinky Wallace, Juanita Wallace, Chester Brensen and Bill and Shirley Griffen.

During the afternoon service, letters and tapes from former ministers were read and played.

Afterward the church provided a barbecue dinner. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, dance band played, and teens sang songs. Delia Dean Arnold.

Bowling Green congregation takes part in crusade

BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky--Twenty-three members of the Bowling Green congregation helped with Celebration '97, a crusade conducted by Ralph Bell Sept. 14 to 17.

Pastor Bell is a member of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

WCG members also assisted in small group prayer in the weeks before the crusade.

Pastor Robert Persky said: "What we learned from the crusade was that we need to pray for those who don't have a relationship with Jesus. We need to ask God to use us to present our own story of how Jesus saved us and changed our lives forever. Deborah Brown.

Tkach, Albrecht appear on Bible Answer Man broadcast

Pastor General Joseph Tkach and Mr. Albrecht appeared on Hank Hanegraaff's Bible Answer Man broadcast Feb. 12 and 13. They discussed the new Millennial Madness video.
