GLENDORA, California--Saturday morning March 21, Larry Omasta and I, representing the Pasadena congregations, strengthened our bonds of unity with our brothers in Christ at the Glenkirk Presbyterian Church in Glendora.
We were invited to their Promise Keepers monthly breakfast meeting so that we could tell the story about the WCG's spiritual journey.
Ten minutes before the meeting, we were asked to join eight others to pray for God's blessing on the meeting and especially upon the guest speaker. The prayers were moving, and we felt the presence of God's Spirit working with all of us.
For the first 20 minutes the group of more than 250 men sang songs of praise to God with the accompaniment of a seven-piece praise band. Breakfast was next.
Then Bob Graves, the master of ceremonies, introduced us. I introduced Larry Omasta as the guest speaker. He delivered a moving address about the church's and his own spiritual journey. Near the end of his message he played a two-minute promotional tape of PTM's latest video, Millennial Madness.
Both of us received dozens of positive comments from the men who were there, including several pastors from other congregations in Glendora.
Overall, we felt a strong sense of peaceful excitement, joy and unity with men of differing fellowships. I was reminded of the miraculous formation of the first-century church (Act 2:5, 44).
In spite of any physical or social differences, God's Spirit is the one agent, surpassing all other forms of commonality, for unifying the body, through faith in Christ.
