PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island--Thirteen Providence teens, along with youth leaders David and Diane Wise, and parent helpers Bruce and Diane Wingate, took part in World Vision's 30-Hour Famine Feb. 28 and 29 to help starving people in Third World countries.
The teens began their fast at noon, just before worship services. They spent the night at the home of Dennis and Lorraine Pelley, who pastor the Providence church. The fast ended at 6 p.m. Sunday when the teens ate a pasta dinner.
The teens raised about $2,000 for starving people overseas. One teen, Kimberly Jenner, raised enough money to enter World Vision's essay contest, where she will try to qualify for travel to a Third World country with World Vision. There they will meet people helped with funds raised in the 30-Hour Famine. Dennis Pelley.
