By Val Brown and Mervin Walton
Saturday, March 28, the Pasadena A.M. prayer ministry conducted its second monthly prayer vigil from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The idea for a prayer vigil came from Philippine brethren who have been conducting prayer vigils for more than a year.
Pastor General Joseph Tkach spoke on "Giving Thanks to God," then he led the group in prayers of thanksgiving and praise. Bermie Dizon, pastor of the Pasadena A.M. church, gave a message on the "Significance of the Bread and Wine." Afterward those in attendance took communion. Several members presented messages on other topics related to prayer sessions. Prayer sessions focused on repentance, prayer for the sick, the need for godly love, praying for the unchurched, praying for our leadership and various ministries in the church and spiritual deliverance.
Val Brown expressed the feelings of many present: "In all the years I've been a Christian I had not experienced such an outpouring of God's Spirit as I did that Saturday night. I'm so grateful that God inspired me to join with a group of brothers and sisters in Christ for an overnight prayer vigil. As we humbled ourselves in prayer, God seemed to speak through our voices as he brought thoughts, emotions and words from our hearts and minds, and tears from our eyes. I believe he was speaking through many people that night stimulating thoughts and ideas."
