Two hundred thirty-two (232) women attended the 2007 National Women's Convention on May 2-5 held at the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS) in Baguio City with the theme, Woman on a Mission. Participants from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, including 13 women from Malaysia were welcomed on opening night by Lulu Guzon. She urged each one to craft her "I Am" statement of who she is and what she has in Christ; and what is important to her, as a woman on a mission with God. Eugene and Lulu were honored that night with a bouquet of flowers as they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
Highlight of the convention were the inspiring messages delivered by three guest speakers who are pillars of women's ministry in the Worldwide Church of God. Tammy Tkach gave stirring messages on "Getting to Know Jesus" and "Following Jesus". She asked the women to bring home a one-liner that will help them remember the meat of all the messages that were delivered, that is, to: Know Jesus, Love Jesus, and Follow Jesus. Inspiring life lessons were shared by Sheila Graham when she spoke on "Being a Holy Woman" and "Being a Confident Woman". Daphne Sidney encouraged the women with her talk on "Telling our Story", and imparted much-needed tips on "Self Care".
The
Filipino women presented native dances during Ladies' Night
showcasing Filipino culture, where guests from overseas gamely
participated in. The convention concluded with a communion service
conducted by Pastor Arlan Aquino of Baguio City Church. Overall, the
convention was one great experience the women will long remember and be
inspired with. We thank our guest speakers, benefactors and friends for
praying for us and for supporting us in many different ways. We
appreciate you all very much. By God's grace, this year's convention is
- mission accomplished! --Lulu Guzon
