It's All in the Name

Readers may wonder why this magazine is called, THE ROCK. Here's the reason: JESUS.

Jesus is our Rock: our strength and our foundation. He provides us with the support and strength we need when we are at the lowest points and troubled times of our lives. He remains the same--unchanging, and ALWAYS loving us. In the darknesss of our sins, we see His Light and His Glory, which bring us hope. We receive everlasting life through Him. It is His Love and His Grace that keep us going through the rough times of life. We become steadfast and strong when we accept Him into our lives.

We, the staff, after several weeks and name ideas, decided on "The Rock" as this magazine's name because our goal is to proclaim the name Jesus to the world.

Below is a hymn that further proclaims that Jesus is our Rock. Written by Edward Mote and William B. Bradbury, it's entitled, "The Solid Rock":

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust in man's weak frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name

Chorus
On Christ, the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When darkness seems to hide His face, I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the vale

(Repeat Chorus)

His oath, His covenant, His blood support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my Hope and Stay

(Repeat Chorus)

When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne

(Repeat Chorus)
